Hi All,

I am not sure if this is the right forum or not. What do you consider Hedge Shears..... It isn't a hatchet, or Axe, its not a kitchen knife or Kitchen tool....I don't think it is a multi-tool etc....

Could someone recommend a high quality hedge Shears (I want ~10" cutting surface with a total length of 24"-30"). I am tired of the cheap ones at Lowes and Home Depot. I am looking to spend ~$100 on them. I saw this set online

Corona Clipper HS 6960 10-Inch Professional Hedge Shear, but I am not sure about it. I assume that knife experts would have a great opinion on home maintenance equipment.

I also need a good quality camp shovel for the beach. I have an old army style one that has finally bit the dust. We go to the beach a few times a year and the kids want me to dig holes for them all of the time. I would like a folding shovel that is decent quality, and made from above average material, because of the salt water cheap ones don't last very long. I try to clean with fresh water after every use, but it is impossible to fully clean without taking it apart every time. Now if them made one out of a dendritic cobalt material that would be great (and very expensive). I understand that even good steel will not hold up to salt water indefinitely, but something better than the $10-15 ones that show up when you google would be great. I would go to $50ish for the right one.

If in the wrong forum please move it for me to the correct one.

Thanks,

I never used Corona but True Friends made in Germany are excellent.

At least the Corona is carbon steel, and heat treated. Better than most, but somebody makes a better set of hedge shears. The Corona would be great for your home, but maybe there is something better for a pro?

I read up on them. Looks like a quality Shear.

One other item I am looking for.....Now I know this will sound strange....

I like the german mil surp fording shovels with the square pushbutton lock and pick on the other side.
very heavy duty construction, but not stainless.
Lee Valley and Garrett Wade sell stainless shovels, but no folding ones.
Have you considered buying your kids the $5 "udigit" style folding hand spades -- stainless but not big.
