It's not mine, damn thing belongs to my sister. I've been recruited to help figure the thing out, & of course I had to screw around with it. Not a bad little device, very intuitive, but typing is tedious. I hope you'll excuse a somewhat inane post for the sole purpose of satisfying my curiosity :)

In case it wasn't clear, yes, I'm posting from the phone right now. Ain't technology grand?

I have the old EDGE version, it satisfies the uses for me, as an iPod and a phone, I've gotten used to the touchpad and it makes silent texting and data entry nice.

I've got an iTouch which is everything like the iPhone except no phone or camera. I love it and its so much easier than lugging a computer everywhere to take notes or check email (or BFC!)

Moar? Moar. . .

My sister just got done making a bunch of ringtones (free!) for her new lifeline. Very slick process via Itunes. I doubt Apple intended for it to work that way, but it was very easy. Much better than making tones for my razr:thumbup:

I've long considered Itunes to be feckless limiting ball & chain money farm software, but it seems Apple managed to hide some functionality in it as well:cool:

To make a ringtone in iTunes you need to go to Prefs, then Import, then change your import settings to mp3 (I used 112kbps, quality is less important than compactness for my ringtones). Then, find the song you want, and go through the song to figure out which part you want to be the ringtone (IE: 00:30.00 to 00:42.00) and then Command-I to get info on the song. Under the Options tab in the Get Info menu, check both start and stop time and enter the start and stop times for the ringtone section (IE: Start time 00:30.00 End Time 00:42.00). You may want to play it once to make sure it's well cropped. Then, just select the song in your library and go to Advanced -> Convert Selection to MP3. It will automatically convert ONLY the portion of the song that you selected to a new, cropped MP3 file, which can then be dragged onto the desktop and used. This is infinitely easier than trying to crop and convert in another application, and now you can have the coolest ringtone on the block in half the time!

I bought a 3G iPhone on the 15th of July, I love this thing!! Everything Well...... Just works. I am used to buying the latest greatest gadgets and then being disappointed after a week or so. Not with this, it is truly awesome. I cant wait to see what Apple come up with next, If you are on the fence about this product I say do it.:thumbup:

I have the first generation iPhone and I still love it. I will eventually get a 3G, maybe when they make a 32 gig available.
