I found an earlier thread about scribing blade and scale thickness. I looked at you tube and found a few designs. This site was mentioned was mentioned years ago so I thought I would refresh members ideas. This site https://www.shars.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=1191&p=8&q=Dial+Test+Indicator+Accessories page 317 shows separate arms and clamps for indicator bases.
Very reasonable prices for the arm, clamp, etc. You can either buy a base or make one. The dial indicator clamps can be used for a scriber or pencil sized to fit the clamp. For under $30 you have an articulating arm to scribe your lines.

Are you speaking from experience Using an indicator arm/base for scribing?

All the ones I've use would be too weak, I image.
It's just designed to hold the indicator.

Heck, I barely touch mine.

I have not used a scribe and arm for knife making, however there are a few who use one to make scales even before grinding/finishing. There are a few youtube videos using a scribe and for a new builder might be a worthwhile investment without breaking the bank.
