I recently saw on ebay a helios ceratitan for $150 which struck me as inexpensive. the blade in the picture said "Japan". The pictures on the official site do not. which make me wonder

1)Is it a fake? or
2)Is it inexpensive because it was made in japan? or
3)are they all made in japan ? and
4)If I find one from a dealer for a similar price, should I assume that it too was made in japan (based on the answers to #2 and/or #3)?

As far as I know:
All Bokers using ceramic have their blades made in Japan.
Bokers made in Germany are stamped "Boker Solingen" plus steel type in small letters somewhere on the blade
Boker arbolitos (made in Argentina) have various markings, generally "Boker Argentina" or "Boker Arbolito".
Boker magnums are built in various countries, generally Taiwan, sometimes Germany their "upper" line.

About knife having lower price: fake knife is unlikely: it would require the maker to produce ceramic blades, or something that look like ceramic, and there are a very few companies that have that technical capability. Might be factory second though.

Not ceramic, Ceratitan, titanium alloy. But you are right it would probably be equally unlikely.

I don't care that the knife may be made in Japan. I will say that if the picture on ebay is a picture of the Helios Ceratitan that is currently shipping, than the picture on the Boker website is not an adequate representation. That kind of bothers me. I understand that the manufactuer wants to display his products in the best light, But my Infinity looks exactly like the picture, so does my Magnum, Scallion, and Buck.

I strikes me as sketchy, and I like Boker a lot, I've bought four of their knives (including a ceratitan I haven't seen yet)

Sorry,

I just realized I'm a moron after all

In the pictures of the other knives the blades say Japan
