A quick question for those more experienced than I am concerning axes. Can anyone give me some feedback on Helko axes, specifically the steel used. It is listed as "German C45 high grade carbon". In looking at C45 information, the functional equivalent to it in the US is 1045, and C45 is listed as a medium carbon steel in everything that I read. They look like they make a great axe, with a number of patterns that I am very interested in, but I am a bit concerned that the steel will not hold an edge as well as I am used to. Helko does not list what the rockwell hardness is - I read where 1045 can be induction hardened from R54 up to R60, but could not find anything on C45 rockwell hardness. Any feedback would be appreciated.
