Anyone have this knife? Just looking for some feedback on it.

My buddy is turning 40 and I'd like to get him a nice folder for his bday. He's into Norse Mythology so I thought Helle might be a subtle but nice choice.

He works a blue collar job and carries a Rat 1 every day. I like the Dokka because its a folder and it comes with a nice leather sheath.

Beautiful knife. Classic blade, nice handle. Could almost trick me into buying a folder again. These birch handles are the most pleasant to use : grippy and satin smooth at the same time (however, they soak up water : keep the knife dry). My experience with Helle is they make excellent fixed blades. Didn't test this folder but it seems to have it all right : triple laminated steel (great, great cutting power), steel liners (required as birch is a rather soft wood). They make another folder, the Skala (12c27 stainless steel, very sharp) with cocobolo handle (nice, but not the satin touch of this Masur birch). Downside, none of them is bolted (as seen on the pictures) : they would be easier to clean, oil and keep smooth. A great issue for an everyday user.
As it is a folder, try to buy the knife hands on and check it for play. I was very disappointed with a Swede 92 (very similar model), made by EKA, a brand as famous for quality as Helle : it has a lot of play. Could be a lemon or sloppy QC or even considered normal (after all it's a folder...). IMO, it's a major flaw.

I brought one of these and its very nice.

Very practical, comfortable handle and very nice to look at.

Im very pleased with it....

The "look at" factor is actually a positive point. It's really, IMO, one of the most beautiful woods ever. I dislike my EKA because of the play but the handle makes me go back to using it. This wood is kind of "spongy" and that's interesting : you can soak it in (whatever) oil for waterproofing or use colors of any kind to "customize" it. Using it daily will naturally "customize" it with dirt, fat, sweat, blood, water, salt,...Eventually, it will be a nice, aged, gold/amber color. Must love it.
