Hi All,
I have a Helle Fjelikniven with a very simple handle. The wooden handle is comfortable and secure but when my hand is wet it is less secure. Why have I never seen checkering on this style knife? I am thinking about checkering my Helle. Thought?
Thanks!

That handle looks like it should have pretty good retention just from its shape. If you really have to do something with it, bicycle tube, shrink tube or tennis grip should improve your grip and be reversible.

Or use some vulc tape, rubbery tape that bonds to itself naturally and makes a great grip.

Also reversible.

I agree, some type of grip tape would be an easier solution and even reversible. As I said above, if you are good a checkering (I'm not) then that might look good. Maybe give the handle a little stain so all looks original. I like well done checkering.

That’s a nice knife, you could embellish the handle for traction with a dremel .
