I have a helle fjelkniven and when I got it the metal spacer that sits on the handle had a gap and I am worried about contamination and rust. It is a pretty small gap but it is on the handle side not blade and i heard water can get in and rott the wood.I have been afraid to use it for 6 months because of it. What should I fill it with? Something hard like superglue or something soft? Has anyone had this issue with the fjelkniven?

I would think a small bit of epoxy would be just the thing to fill the gap. I wouldn't be concerned about water rotting the wood or structural problems, but I'd want it filled for hygienic reasons. Thinking of the 'goo' getting stuck in there on a hunting trip, or food during kitchen work...

That issue is very common for Helle - for some reason they do not even consider it to be an issue.
Now as I think about it: you might be right about that hard vs soft question. Not that it would be terribly important - if the filling cracks because the blade moves too much you can always remove it and try something different.
