Helle Knife - Recommendations

I’ve decided to purchase a Helle as a light belt knife for my short hikes and as a backup to my larger knives on my longer hikes and camping trips. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or preferences on which model to get. Also, has anyone ever experienced any blade failures or issues with this brand that might change my mind?

If you use the knife for it's intended use, you shouldn't have any problems with it what-so-ever. The laminated steel blade will take and hold an incredible edge and I think you'll be very happy with it.

I have a Helle Fjellkniven which I got from Ragnar's Ragweed Forge that I think is a great knife for your purposes.
A well made, lightweight, sharp, reasonably priced knife that does what it is supposed to do.

The Helle Fjellkniven is the one that I was thinking about starting with partially because of the lower starting price and the features looked about the same as the others. Ragweed Forge is also where I have been browsing. I had that name come up several times. He also has some of the Mora's that I planned on buying some time later.

Just like Blue, I also have the Fjellkniven. I got mine from Rag Weed but I know the knifecenter sells them as well. Rag Weed has the best customer service I've ever seen, he's a great guy and quick shipping. That particular Helle is a great blade...and would make a great small camp knife.

I also have a Fjellkniven, and use it for hiking and camping. Makes a real nice outdoor companion, easy to keep sharp, holds an edge decently, and you get a great grip with the wood handle.

Looks good, too!

Helle Jegermester here!
The blade is a little larger (5") than the Fjellkniven, I like that for cooking.
The guard came with a burr on it and the butt of the handle was a little sharp cornered. 5 minutes (literally) with some 400 grit solved that.
I really like the knife, not too sure about the sheath. You have to pay attention when you re-sheath since the leather is thin. Don't push on the knife. The upside is that the loop is very flexible. I tuck the point into my BDU slash pocket and the whole package stays out of the way getting in and out of the car, sitting in lawn chairs, etc.
Everyone needs a Scandi ground knife.
:D
