I just purchased a Helle Knife from a local gun show here in Denver. Its the "knife of honor" a 4 in blade and wood and raindeer antler handle.
The research I have done so far tells me that it is not a catalog item , but was commissioned by the norweigen boy scouts for thier official knife.
Now I am wondering if I should use the knife or put it away for a collectable.
I paid 60 bucks for it and see that it can be purchased for 75 online.

So gang, tell me should I use it or should I save it for a possible collectable ?? all advice is welcome.
Thanks and Good Knife Hunting
Jack

Jack, I only own one Helle myself, the Nying. These are not very expensive knives and I don't see them as appreciating in any serious way as an investment. But they are remarkably effective cutting tools! :D Get out there and put that knife to work.

Jack,

Use it: it was made for boy scouts, and they would definitely find a million things to cut up with it.

Yup.

Use it.
Scandinavian knives are famous for their utility and the Ereskniven with its laminated steel should perform very well.

Did you buy it to use? If so, then go for it. It's not particularly expensive, and you can buy another if you want one to set aside.

That being said, my Helle Millstone is part of my collection/accumulation and I don't use it.

Best Wishes,
Bob

no, I bought it new for 60 bucks at gun show. Its a good looker... I dont do much outdoor stuff anymore but I just had to have this knife. Anyway , I didnt know if it had any real value or was just a workin knife.
