Hey what do you guys think about this knife I made. It's a Helle Fjording Knife. It is carbon laminate steel with an olive wood handle.

I'm not seeing any pictures.

Would love to learn more about Fjording knives.

Am somewhat concerned about the implications of "pining for the fjords" but I digress.

Nice knife - i like the look of the handle :)

But the blade shape seems to be tanto (maybe it´s just because of the pic) ;) I´m looking forward seeing it with a nice patina...

Kind regards
Andi

Now that is a stunning looking knife!!! I love the curve of the spine of the blade. Just perfect looking.

Now, for a bit of cultural exchange....

Could you say more about what makes a knife a Fjording knife? That's not a category or use I'm familiar with. Does this mean fishing or boat use?

In terms of my reference to "pining for the Fjords", "pining" means a deep, sad longing for something, typically from the past. If I travel away from my lover, I may "pine" for her. The phrase "pining for the Fjords" is from what is arguably the single most important sketch done by Monty Python's Flying circus. It is in reference to a "Norwegian Parrot" that is is dead. I'll post the transcript, but if you can listen to spoken English with a decidedly British accent, you should just view the original sketch. Short version, "pining for Fjords" means "dead", in a joking way.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm stuck in the hot Atlanta traffic but I'll post more pics when I get home. Fjording is the model of helle knife blades from Norway. It's just a good general use knife.

@bladetech123: That´s really a nice knife. It was just because of the pic... somehow tanto. I didn´t want to mess around or something. The wood handles are looking really great.

Enjoy that beauty!

Kind regards
Andi

Hey this is another one of my dad's handmade knives. The other knife I posted was my
dad's creation.
This is an Enzo elver with d2 steel. The handle is either ironwood or king's wood. The leather sheath is also hand made.

I only have one Helle, a "Spiederkniven" (sp?), aka Scout knife. My Troop gets a kick out of it when I wear it to meetings or campouts, with the Scout stamped on the sheath. It's a nice little knife and was quite inexpensive.
