Thinking of picking one of the two up as a campsite chore knive.

I am trying to learn some bushcraft skills thru youtube:p and this would be used for food prep also.

I build some furniture so I have or have easy access to scrap walnut, maple, cherry etc for handle material.

The blanks in question..

I think I want stainless for food prep with scandi blade?

Which would you Recommend?

I'm not an expert by any means. Would wait for a more experianced person to answer. But I think either would work well for bushcraft or food prep. If your going to be doing alot of batoning wood and stuff would probably go with one of Enzo's D2 steel and would get a blade over 5 in. I'm going to get a Helle blade soon and stick a deer antler on the end of it and use it only for cutting up deer and other critters.I don't think Sandvick steel would hold up well to batoning wood so might not go with Helle for wood chopping blade unless they make one with strong steel. Might want to look at bigger knives if doing alot of wood batoning like Fallkniven and buy a Helle or Enzo for food prep and other work.

Both brands are good. As Ulf sid, if you intend to batton rather than whittle, get a longer blade.

The main thing is, do you want to make a through tang (solid handle with a hole down the middle) or a full tang (2 scales sandwiching the tang).
Which style do you feel like making?

Thanks guys

I'm going to go with the full tang with either one.. I don't think helle has a completely full tang but i see one model is full enough where I can sandwich the tang with the handle and that's the one I'd go with.

This would mostly be for whittling and food prep as I have a batoning blade that I carry in my pack and I just want something to keep on my belt for smaller more delicate work.
