Howdy folks-

I just picked up a very cool Helle Symfoni and I'm liking it a lot so far. It's very sharp, good blade length, and has nice handle contours. I was curious who here owns both this and the Eggen that could compare the two for me? Mainly looking for any big differences in handle shape/size/diameter.

Thanks!

Here's a couple Helle blades:

From top to bottom:

Eggen
Symfoni
Fire
? (older discontinued model, can't remember the name, anyone know?)
Harding
Nying (my favourite Helle)
Jegermester
Kiskekniv

Oh helle yeah! (har har har). Thanks much, those are good shots. My have to keep an eye out for a used Eggen then. Dig the jegermester (or brakar?) too.

here is an issue that I heard about Helle. They can be broken very easily. Granted they are not meant to be used for batoning, I still have reservations about putting my Eggen to "hard" use. Does anyone else know more about this?

God Bless

Because they are stick tangs, I am always a little cautious. I have done some minor batoning with mine, and many other stick tangs, and been fine. However, I have heard some horror stories of bent helles from batoning. But that is a whole 'nother topic.
