The Helle Tollekniv is a nice knife from Helle of Norway. It is in their "Basic" series. Helle are toward the higher end of moderately priced blades, with most knives in the $80 range. The Tollekniv is $39.

Very traditional scandi blade geometry in Sandvik.
Wonderful rustic handle in Birch or something. The give it a cursory antiquing stain job which, in my opinion, looks good.
The sheath is a very simple side-seam design but fits like a glove and is made of very attractive brown leather and stamped with their coat of arms.

Just a wonderful knife for the traditionalist. The antithesis of any and all things "tactical". Thinking back to my childhood, this would be a great knife for a boy as if he lost it you would not be out much money. When I was a boy, I was into all things Native American and Early Frontier (no Cowboys for me). This knife would look at home in a fringed homemade frontier style sheath. As it was as a boy, I had a green river.

So I really like the Helle Tollkniv.

It looks nice. I do love the practical, non-tactical attitude of scandinavian fixed blades.

FYI Helle is about to release a very interesting and attractive new knife, I believe it's their first folder: the Dokka. It is exactly what the doctor ordered!

Yes, Helle makes some wonderful knives. I prefer their laminated stainless; takes and holds an edge like you wouldn't believe. I usually buy the blades from Ragweed Forge and craft my own, basically in Scandinavian style.

WOW!
you are 100% right on with that one!
best of both worlds - curly birch, laminated pukko blade, no "tacticool" look, and legal to carry in my pocket.

That's one stunning knife. Thanks for the heads up. I never knew one like that existed.

No wonder even I, a Norwegian knife nut, was not aware of that Dokka folder, it says available in June 2010.
Cant wait to see that one in the shops, it looks like the answer to a lot of questions.
