hey folks.. i know that Helle knives are very well made and have a great reputation.. after seeing the Helle Viking some time ago, i have been really wanting one ever since..
i really like the Mora-esque/traditional simplicity of it.. it is supposed to be a recreation of an original Viking era knife too... which makes it even better..

i was wanting to know if any of you folks have the Viking, and what was your thoughts on it.. i have seen a few pics of it here on the BF...

(also, if someone wants to part with one, definitely let me know...:D)

(knife not mine.. found the pic on the net..)

I've got one of the first issue. love it!

It's what a knive should be, and all a knife needs to be for general all purpose use.

IMHO of course, others may well find fault for some reason or other.

Nope! Not fo sle or trade

Regards,
:)

The Viking is a great knife. It is very stout, maybe even tank-ish for a traditional scandinavian blade.

The blade is very thick, which may be something to consider for better or worse.

The simple handle is awesome. It is very comfortable, as you would expect.

Have you seen this older thread I made? It compares a Viking to a classic Mora. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...iking-Photos-(800x600)?highlight=helle+viking

I'm not really sure it would be right to say one knife is better than the other, since they are designed a little differently, but I do like the Mora more as a "user knife." The Mora's handle is more rounded and symmetrical -which is more comfortable to me for long periods of use. The Helle isn't far behind though, it is great to use as well.

As far as "cool factor," I think Helle is the obvious winner.
