As the title says ---
I for one am pleasantly surprised with their decision to explore the tool steel world
Thoughts?

A search for "Sleipner steel" provides quite a bit of information. It's an enhanced D2 from some descriptions and gets very high ratings.

I have two Lionsteel M7s and one M5, and they sharpen up nicely on my DMT plates (need thinning out behind the edge a bit!). I like the steel, though some report rust issues.

I mean, I do like Cruwear.

Me too. You'll like Sleipner as well, in particular in a fixed blade. It's another one of these semi-stainless, tough steels with good but not best wear resistance. Think Cruwear (which - compared to Sleipner has V instead of Mo carbides), or A8mod or INFI, etc. D2 has more chrome with larger carbides.

This is from Uddeholm themselves (check out the last category, 2.5x tougher than D2):

I ordered the knife, I'll put it through its paces
I wanted a wabakimi for a while but not in the steel it was available in, I'll report findings
