I've not been on here for a while. I've had the odd flick through, but forum time has been a bit tight for me of late.
Just thought I'd show you a few things I've been up to instead of sitting in front of a PC.:)

As you can see, I've been putting more time into burning my fingers than tapping a keyboard.;)

Right, I'm now off to have a look at what the rest of you have been up to...

Thanks for looking,

Ian

Ian..

Always a pleasure to sere your work...and a little brass too......

Thanks:)

Yep, gotta throw a little bit of brass in now and then! I nearly done the Shanghai dagger fittings in stainless, but figured that brass gave it a more authentic old school look. (Plus as you know, I'm actually rather partial to the horrible, classless, yellow, soon to be green stuff;))

Thanks for taking time to comment, as always, it's very much appreciated.

Nice stuff!

The little one on the right on the first pic, and the city knife in the second pic are my favorites!

Kind regards,

Jos

Mr. Bailey,
Extremely nice work. Even though I don't understand all your verbiage I can say your work impresses me.
The dagger and little ones in the last pic are my favorite.

I love that little spearpoint cutey with the escutcheon. Actually it looks REALLY useful, despite it being, umm, cute.

I'll take mine with ivory Micarta and brass, thank you. :D

Thanks for the smiles.

Coop

I won't lie, I had to look verbiage up in the dictionary to find out what I'd done there...that's quite an achievment for a Norfolk boy. (if you're wondering what Norfolk, UK is like, it's much like the film Deliverance, but with different accents:D)

Thanks for taking time to comment.

Brass? Are you insane?

Funnily enough, cute was the intention with that one...it was made for a lady.;)

Nice see you're still smiling.

I must agree with Coop ('cept I'm not calling it cute)! Is that a Bailey original? Like the City knife also. When are you going to change to a nice etched logo instead of the stamp?:D

David: ^^^ Stamp over an etch for me. We'll agree to disagree. :D

Ian: Make a run of a half-dozen or so of that 'cutey'. We'll gobble them up.

Cheers,

Coop

Ian and I are pals; just picking at him!:D

I have arranged to be at Blade; I hope to meet you Coop!

Bailey original? Eh? There isn't such a thing is there?:D
To be honest, I should really have mentioned my influences, but I think most people know I'm no designer....Loveless for most of them of course, Alan Wood for the bushcraft knife and W. E. Fairbairn for the dagger. As for that that stamp, well that's a bit of Bill Moran.;)
The only one slightly original is the one with finger grooves. I've no idea where that one came from.
I'm slowly moving on though David, the nessmuck is made of RWL-34.
There's this one as well...made after reading an article about old German hunting/military knives.

As you can see, my influences come from everywhere but my own imagination!

Very nice! Should have nice stag handle slabs though... that would make it more "German".;)

Nice stuff!

Kind regards,

Jos

NICE work Ian. You've really come a long way from the knives you first posted a while back!

Thanks Peter, reading things like that put a big smile on my face.:D

As for the German styling, the carbon fibre was a deliberate attempt to make it a bit more modern looking. You're right though, some nice stag would've worked a treat. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of stag. I always find it's in control of you rather than the other way round (shape wise) It's also not that easy to find decent stuff for slabs over here...as it often is with so many other things related to knifemaking.
