Hello!:
I am new to the knife community, having just gotten my first Spyderco a month ago. I use it for EDC, primarily for cutting open boxes and bundles at work. I got it after reading many recommendations on this site, so thank you to all who posted about the Tenacious. I also picked up a sharpening system, and went to work on my kitchen knives. I then did research on stropping, and after reading numerous posts, and doing experimentation on my own, i made my own strop with an old leather belt glued to a paint stick. I tried polishing compounds from Lowes, they didnt work. Finally I discovered Mothers mag polish. I applied it to the rough side ofthe belt, and Voila! A few passes later, I was shaving arm hair with all my kitchen knives, and my Tenacious! Thanks to all of you, I can now enjoy my new hobby!

Gonna save up towards one. It was made for lefties, so I gotta try it out. Tired of having to be ambidexterous about every tool Ive ever owned.

Welcome to the forums. From reading, it sounds like you're left handed like myself. Make sure you pick up a spyderco Paramilitary 2 as well. They're great knives and one of the best (in my opinion) Spydercos. You need at least one Delica as well. :) Since you mentioned that you got a sharpening system, which one did you get?

Welcome to the forum billyc.I think the military is a great knife but I prefer the para military 2 for edc.

Welcome to the forums, Billy!

The Military is one of the best knives ever made, imho. It looks large but carries small and pretty soon all of your other knives look small. I had six, now I am down to three, but I am always looking.

I keep going back and forth between the military and the para 2 for my next knife. They are similar size. I can get the military lh cheaper, but in the satin finish. Is the black coated blade on the para 2 worth the extra money?
