Well, I just joined after lookin around for a couple hours and it looked like a really nice site. Im 15, live in Colorado, and love sharp things! I own a Samurai 3000, a couple of throwing stars, a no-name red tanto (not bad for a cheapy), a circle Ronin, some bowie, and a S&W S.W.A.T. wit camo. I am going to buy a Kershaw Baby Boa in about a week too. Is there any rules not in the stickys I nedd to know about, and can someone tell me all the general abbreviations typically used here? I am kind of a knife newb, but i know EDC and some others i cant remember. I am a noob but I learn fast so i should know my way around after a week or two.

CJ / SnowSky / w/e you wanna call me.

Welcome aboard! You will definitely find a wealth of information on BFC. The only advice I can give is to make yourself knowledgeable about the workings of the forum and read....alot! If you have any questions feel free to email me or any other mod and we will be glad to help you if we can.

In the meantime I will move this to the Blade Discussion Forum.

Welcome, have a great time, unfortunately your age might stop you from getting some neat knives. Everyone has an opinion on knives, get what you want and make sure you have a good time. That baby Boa is a good start, when you hit 18, try out the passaround, you'll have a great time. Is that Ronin a Spyderco? If so, you're already well on your way to a good collection. When I was 15, funds were tight, but if you can afford it, try to stay away from the junk. Junk is a pretty broad statement, I'm referring to brands like Jaguar, some Frost (SMKW flagship). Some might consider S&W junk, but don't let anyone take your thunder. I started out on Jaguar, Frost and gradually moved on to Cold Steel and CRKT, now my favorites are Buck, Benchmade and Spyderco, and I'm moving into the customs market right now. You are entering the world of knives at a great time, you have great resources here, and I wish you the best of luck in your collecting and use of knives.

Just don't make the mistake I did and buy every knife that you like ;).

Oh yeah, IWB. If you jog or walk in your neighborhood, IWB might be an option. Inside waist band. I do this with my Delica when I go for long walks.

When you turn 18, you can look at more than just pretty knives on this site  .

A word of advice.... you're only 15, get off this site now for financial reasons!!! If you stay here these guys will influence you and you'll end up buying more knives and you'll never have funds ever again ;)

:D  :D

Seriously, welcome aboard. Listen to the advice cause there's a lot of knowledgeable folks on these forums. And then make up your own mind about what you want to buy, just make sure you really want it :footinmou

Thanks all for replying, Here is some answers for questions n stuff and yea...

The S&W i got 4 my birthday about 7 months ago. I personally lke it, good EDC, but the blade loosens sometimes. Im not much for buying semi nice knives, I save until I can get what I really like. I am considering a CRKT M-16 tanto after the baby, but whats with all the varietys? I am mainly a fan of easy-open framelocks, and some linear (i like the way the boa looks and i want an assisted). I dont like lock backs, to hard to close. Switchie's are illegal in CO, and i had never heard of a balisong b4 last night. Its amazing what good people can do with em! I dont think i would like one though. I eventually (in a couple years when i have a good job)want to buy a genuine, fully combat ready, tradintional Japanese katana. *Drools* But for now i mainly want a cool looking EDC (BB) and I kinda want a NICE tactical folder with a tato blade such as a CRKT M16.

SnowSky, welcome and greetings, I'll give ya the best advice I can, use the search function, it'll answer many questions, read the FAQ, pay attention to the stickys, stay outa W&C for a while,(or at least don't post there yet), don't be afraid to ask legitimate questions like,"What knife do I need to kill my next door neighbor?", try "What's the typical depth of penetration of a Chris Reeves Aviator into a soft tissue target?", see how much less antagonistic that sounds?

Oh yea if ya feel the need to puff out your feathers, wait till ya get a few posts under your belt, otherwise it's likely to be a massacre.

This is a fun and informative place, sit back and enjoy the ride, I came to visit and never left.

OK, thanks. And for my first noob question, what is C&W? I didnt see any major forum names that would be abbreviated as C&W.

Whine and Cheese. You'll find out what a Bastid is soon enough by going in there. Watch some good fights in there, but don't step into the ring until you've got your footing ;) .
