Hello,

First time posting on the forum. I have quite a few blades, but I'm wanting to modify one in particular.

I have a CRKT Hissatsu folder. Love the style and I would like to:

-Put in a very shallow, purely cosmetic fuller. (not sure here, was told this is not possible due to the fact that the AUS 8 has already been heat treated.)
-Create a cosmetic hamon (vinegar).
-Dye the Zytel grips.

I've already removed the black coating and polished it up.

Anyone have any tips or advice for this project?

Thanks,

M.

You would need a water cooled CNC mill to put the fuller in. Not easy because you are dealing with hardened steel. I'm sure there are other ways but it probably wouldn't turn out too well.

It's stainless steel so you would need a strong acid or tape it off and sand blast it.

In all the mods would probably cost more than the knife.

The fuller could be done with a dremel and a steady hand. Water cooling is important with any machining process.

The hamon may not happen on a stainless steel. Strong acid and heat might get it, but you run the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.

Zytel isn't porous enough for dying from my understanding. could be wrong.

And most mods will cost more than the knife. I feel like that's the point but to each their own.
