Used it to butcher and process meat from 3 hogs, Im very impressed with its performance, how sharp the steel can get, its edge geometry(extremely thin edge) and how it slices meat. I tried to cut some thin branches in my backyard too, but the edge wrinkled a little(dont think thats normal), it still is an excellent slicer. For that price excellent knife.

Yep, for the price it is an excellent little knife. The handle gets a little slippery when bloody, so you have to kind of watch that, but overall, very good value

Never used or handled that one, but bought my cousin the Cold Steel Master Hunter for Christmas; arrives tomorrow via UPS, so I can't wait to open the box and play around with it for a bit before I have to wrap it.

I've got both the Long and Western Hunters, and love them. I use them as kitchen knives, and they are very good in that role. As you noted, not the toughest or strongest steel, but very rust resistant and easy to sharpen.

They're being closed out, BTW.

Cuts better than any knife I have seen, softer steel, but gets scary sharp very easily, wish they would make some similar but ticker blade with the same steel, but more of a bowie clip point and little better handle......like a cold steel bush ranger thats out of production

I really like them in the kitchen as well as for meat processing. Good blade for the money.
