Post Updated with new pics

Hello BF Boswell here of Boswell Knifeworks. We are actually only 2 people, who love knives, and are new in the realm of custom knife making, and wanted to say hello and see what you guys think of a project we just finished!

What do you guys think. Here are the specs.

The entire knife was made by hand, from being cut out of the saw blade, (we plan to make more out of 1095, and maybe a few more from saw blades, beings they take such a great edge!) to grinding, heat-treating, and finishing/sharpening.

Only simple tools and a hell of a lot of elbow grease were used.

It's a bushcraft knife made from an old circular saw blade, heat treated and give red oak handles, which are permanently mounted and contoured to the blade tang (it is full tang).
It has some file working on the part of the spine which lies flush within the handle.
It has been given a convex bevel and is hair shaving sharp.
Hand-rubbed high satin finish.

It is not a perfect knife, but we are getting better fast, this knife was meant to be a user with high function and simple yet elegant form.

Here are some pics below!!!

Just wanted to add: depending on how people like this one, (and we have many more in the works), I would consider becoming a knifemaker member and selling on the knifemaker section, if you guys want.

Cheers, have a great night.

(The first pic is shown next to a match for size reference)

cool, i like the simplicity, what else do you have in the works? and where's the sheath for this knife?

Hey and thanks for the compliment! Right now we are making in the process of making a couple other with this same drop point blade shape, with some other handle designs and features. We have not started making sheaths yet, right now our focus is just knives.

Welcome to BF!

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that you will need to work on your fit & finish if you are launching a knife-making business.
Also, that handle looks like it may cause hot spots to your hand because of how square the butt is. A knife that small should have a rounded butt so it can fit more comfortably in one's hands during usage.

I suggest that you take this knife out and try it in the outdoors, take pictures of what you do with it. The harder you use that knife, the more interest you will get from forum members.

I'm going to 2nd this. the basis is nice, though I don't think many would want 3 finger grooves in the handle. something more stream line allows multiple grips which I find incredibly helpful when out in the woods.

However overall this is a nice product and I cant wait to see more along with some reviews!

I'm always glad to see a new maker hit the forums. Overall the size and blade design seem useful. I also like the material choice, both the steel and handle. And it looks like the symmetry between the left and right handle scales is OK .

But I must parrot the comments made above regarding the finger grooves and rear of the handle.

And, not intending to be too critical, a comment regarding the filework. If the cut grooves aren't evenly spaced, don't match each other, or are jagged it just looks 'off'.
Here's an example, a random photo found online. Nothing fancy, but notice how every filed groove is the same size and shape, and evenly spaced. I can't even imagine how long that must take...

Anyhoo... Welcome to BladeForums, and I'm anxious to see more of your work.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback, we do have other handles in the works as many of you have talked about. Our fit/finish will most be better on the next one.

We weren't super obsessed with perfect finish on this one, as it is less difficult than making the knife shaped correctly to begin with, (grinding is much more time consuming)

We'll be in the shop tomorrow working on other knives to show you guys.

Bob W. Hey thanks for the compliments, we enjoyed working with the circular saw steel, MAN DOES IT GET SHARP with a convex edge, 1095 should be great to... We also like the hardwood handles, just something about them. The funny thing is, we have one prototype that looks almost exactly like what you posted, this one just wasn't meant to look perfectly symmetrical, it was meant to look more different, our file working on our next project actually looks very different, and is more of a symmetrical design.
