Just put in an order for an Chiruwa Ang Khola yesterday. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I do a lot of camping and have a house in the forest, always used a hatchet for stuff until I won a Gerber Gator machete at some event several months ago. Brought it with me one time and found it was really useful! Sadly the blade broke after some moderate usage so I went on a hunt to find the ultimate replacement... so here I am. I try to live by the philosophy of buying things for life, and to be honest I hadn't even realized that knives of this quality were available.

Guarantee this knife will see some heavy usage and I'm looking forward to see how it holds up.

One thing I don't see, what is the notch in the blade just above the handle for? If it'll open a beer I may never need another tool again!

That is to keep fluid on the blade (blood,) from getting on the handle and your hand, losing your grip. It is called the "cho".

You made a good choice. I have a couple CAK's. Great choppers. How big is the one you ordered?

Oh wow, that's a pretty sobering explanation for the notch. Good to know. Hope I never need that feature. :p

The knife I ordered is supposed to be 16-17" in length and 1.75-2lbs. Much sturdier than the one I previously had.

Thats a good size. Not to big and heavy on the carry. You will be amazed at the work that can do. Hatchet size but ax performance. Not to mention the CAK can be used as a pry bar. You cant break it.

Of course HI stands by their offerings, and Auntie Yangdu will make sure you are happy.

This is the hardest part, waiting for the triangle box. Please share pics when it arrives.

The cho also has some religious mean as well. It's a bit of a muddled mystery, and no one exactly remembers why is was added.

But every khuk that is a real khuk has one of some variety;)

Welcome to the club:)

You know, Jake.....I.....silly me.....just realized that there's a cho on each of the cheeks of my fanny perpendicular. Every time the wife rips a off a chunk, the cho just gets larger and becomes more defined..... I just didn't realize the correct spelling of the word describing those open teeth marks. I always thought it was called a "chew".

The cho on your cheeks is to prevent her from ripping the entire cheek off! Least you still have whats left on the other side of the cho;)

There are some good stickies in the Cantina you should read if you have not yet. I would hate for it to arrive with an accompanying set of sutures..

Still a common term with the roughnecks I work with in construction ichor!! Also fubar :)

I've definitely been reading some of the handling techniques.

Where I camp it could easily be several hours to get to a paved road, and then a couple hours past that to get to a hospital...

It can also be used as a sight for throwing.

in ww2 there was a sniper khukuri with an adjustable cho. the ghurkahs have a secret new model tho with a laser cho.
the good thing about throwing your khuk is that if you miss it comes back. you gotta be a bit careful tho ketchin' it.
i here HI may come out with a drone version.

Oh look what arrived today!

Showed my wife, her response was "I want to go hit something with it!" and marched right outside and proceeded to do so. :D

She'll love the BBDC. You got some big mitts there brother, the handle seems to dissapear in your grip.;)

I'll love her knife too, means I get to carry mine. We've got a place pretty far back inside the woods, great hiking with the dog but she feels a little safer (I do too) when she's got some protection. We've got black bears and cougars around, among other things.

Still havent recieved mine, seeing this makes the wait harder

I'm within 1 day shipping from Reno, pretty sure your stuff will arrive any moment. Never received any email or conformation, just showed up in a triangle box.

The Chirua is tough, but the regular AK has a bit more vibration isolating, and is still a beast. Doubtful youll break it, even with those bear paws. If your wife is anything like mine, She may find a way
