Hello, new member here. I think you have a very cool forums site here. Me being familiar with them since I now belong to five of them (mostly firearms related ones). I just bought a Cuda CQB-1 the one designed by Robert Terzuola and was wondering what y'all think of ithttp://www.camillusknives.com/Cuda-cqb.htm

Also, whats the best and cheapest online retailer of knives? I've shopped at Bestknives.com before and they seem to have decent prices...

hey, im a lurker hehe, but even though i dont buy knives for myself, i found that www.knifeworks.com is a good site to purchase from

www.eknifeworks.com seems good too, they got crkt stuff selling very cheap this weekend, ending tomorrow!

and for a huge range, it seems www.1sks.com has quite a variety of tools, not just knives.

its also owned by the owner of bladeforums im pretty sure

have fun

The CQB-1 is a great value. Very good materials used in construction and great execution in the manufacturing process. The more I play with this knife, the more I like it. A very good design from one of the best custom makers around.

The only fault I can see in the whole Cuda line lies in the sheaths. The sheaths are good serviceable designs but, not up to the quality of the rest of the knife. That is an easy thing to fix if you talk to any of the great kydex guys hanging around the forums

With regards to pricing, please consider the whole the cost. Some places make their profit on the shipping - total delivered cost is what counts. Also, service is important and, in my opinion is worth pay a little extra for. Do they qualiity check the merchandise before it ships (so you avoid the hassle of a return on defective merchandise)? What is their return policy? If you ask questions, do you get a meaningful and prompt reply? There are several good knife sale sites that advertise specials in the dealer for sale forum. The other place to look is in the good, bad and, ugly forum for people's good and bad experiences with knife shops and other forum members.

Stay Sharp,
Sid

A real good retailer is 1SKS.com, and the sales from there are what keep Bladeforums up! They have a huge selection, but if they don't have what you want then I would suggest knifecenter.com.

don't really care for the looks of the cqb, but that's just me.

www.discountknives.com will beat any posted internet price by 10%, if they carry the knife. they have a huge selection, so it's worth checking out. they're great people -- i've done business with them many times. always prompt and helpful.
good luck and welcome.

Though Roger, at Bayou LaFourche doesn't have the widest selection on the web, few beat him for price, and nobody for service.

Also, forumite "shootist16", Dennis Bible is now selling knives. He offers good, sometimes great prices, and excellent service.

SMKW has closeout prices occasionally that nobody else can touch. They're up to date on whether or not they have something in stock, and provide excellent and speedy service, even if all you're buying is a couple $10 knives. They have a fairly wide selection.

For sheer breadth of stock, Knife Center and 1SKS are perhaps the best, tho an outfit called NDSProducts has brands few others do. A great site is Cutlery to go, with lots of European brands from which to choose.

Discount knives can be the cheapest, and seem good, so long as everything goes well. If problems erupt, it usually means a diss in the G,B,&U.

I'll check out the place(s) you mentioned.

Well, went and checked out Best Knives site. Looked at Spyderco and CRKT, the two brands whose prices are the most familiar to me. Got kind of excited on Spyderco, because they list an extremely large # of models. But, then when I checked a couple discontinued models I want, learned that they aren't actually selling them. Interesting practice. Helpful if you just want to know what they looked like, but frustrating when you're doing a Eureka and high fiving the dog.

Their prices aren't bad, but most are in the $2-5 higher range than what I'm used to. Forgot to say, that 1SKS asks the opportunity to match any other dealer's price. The worst they can do is say no.

Totally forgot to say, welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy your stay here!
