I am new to the bladeforums! I just made my account actually! Does anyone have tips on how to get around here?

Welcome!

I spend a lot of time reading and even more drooling at pictures. When I have a question, I ask it. People tend to be friendly.

I would recommend reading the rules for the site and looking at the stickies for the sub-forums that interest you.

Learn how to post pics and show off what you’ve got with pride!

Click on new posts. You’ll get new post from many different sub forums. General discussion is a good place to browse. I also enjoy Maintenance and tinkering. Welcome and enjoy

And prepare for the addiction, if you haven’t got it already. I came here looking for info on a Taiwanese blade, got turned on to Sheffield-made Lambsfoot knives, and just got my first Chris Reeve yesterday. Read the rules and FAQs, and see how far down the rabbit hole you go. And welcome.

Welcome to the forums! Just click on the "Forums" tab and have a look around. The layout is fairly straight forward. Also, notice there is a search function in the upper right hand corner. Chances are your question has already been asked but it's a quick way to get some info.

WARNING: Looking at the For Sale section in this forum may cause permanent damage to your bank account and retirement fund. But then again, he (or she) who dies with the most toys apparently wins, so....

Welcome. Read the rules carefully, as it can be easy to unintentionally break one. Take your time doing research before making purchases. Read, read, read. That's about it.

If you know you have a particular interest spend some time reading the pinned threads and get in there.
General browsing, click on New Posts and start reading, after some time you will see where you spend the most time.
Either way post some pics !

research before you buy

^This. Learn to search carefully on the forum, you will find a treasure trove of information and most questions you can think of, it's probably been discussed here somewhere before. The search here on BF is really powerful, just learning to use it effectively with wildcards, narrowing it to search titles only, posted-by-user, search within a sub-forum, etc, can really help you mine a lot of insightful details from past discussions.

Welcome! Everyone else's tips are great. The rules really lay it out for you. If you're here to buy/sell you'll need atleast a gold membership (for selling, buying is free) which also lets you ask for advice on appraisals. If your here for community, GKD here is a great place to start. Keep in mind that there's a forum for horsing around and that's Whine & Cheese, and the mods don't take too kindly to that behavior outside that forum. Anyways, enjoy your stay this is a very information-rich place.

Welcome! You'll be an expert in no time finding your way around the forum.

Welcome to BF OP. Click and read, click and read...
When your ready, post genuine questions and you will get good answers, with minimal sorting of wheat from chaff. Such has been my experience here.
If you have relevant input from your own experience to add to a current subject, please contribute.
And post pics of interesting knives. We like knives.
