Hello from a newbie. May I ask opinions on a BM value?

I'm looking at what appears to be an early Busse Battle Mistress, black finish, clip point, grips attached with screws. New, with kydex sheath and it's supposed to have the box, if the owner can find it. It's on consignment at a local gun shop.
It looks very similiar to picture BM17 on BadMojo, but I can find no picture matching the sheath. The sheath has no strap, just a deep molded belt loop.
I don't have any pics, but I'm trying to get some.
Can/will anyone speculate as to what it could be worth? I'm a buyer, not the seller.

Welcome to the Busse forums, I'm glad that you stopped by.

Straight Handled Battle Mistress' are great and what a great find. If it is new, unused it could be anywhere in value from $450-$550(even more if it is the right configuration)

If it has a ground clip point(like an unsharpened but ground top) it could be worth the high end of that estimate and possibly more depending on some other factors. It is probably an early one since it has the screws in the micarta. In my opinion the box doesn't matter to the value

one just sold for $600 + on the forsale forums, a couple of years ago they were going from six to seven hundred.

at that time the shsh's were going for 5 plus.

the market is off about 50 to a 150 at this time on the older collectable blades.

good time to buy imho.
 
How much is the shop asking for it?

There were 3 (common) grinds at the tip. Here is a pic (stolen shamelessly from, I believe Andre).

The most common is on the bottom.

The middle one is known as the 1-of-300. Of course that is an approximation.

The one on the top is known as the 1-of-6. There appears to be evidence that there were more than 6 made, but the actual number is unknown. It is however, the rarest of the three.

Well, I picked it up tonight. It is the top picture, the supposed 1 of 6. No box yet, but it should be coming. I've taken a couple of pics. They are poor, but you may be able to see a bit. I'm including links to the pics, as I can't post them. (If that's acceptable.)

Wow, that is one very rare and collectable Busse you have their! Guard it well, for the Hogs will be after it!

I've had a couple of offers on the SHBM, but I think I'm just going to stash it in the gun safe.
I really appreciate all of your help. I may have just caught another collecting "bug". ;)

Definately a nice score. If you get the urge, take it out and use it. It will serve you well. Welcome to the trough (If I hadn't said that yet :confused: )

SEE!!! I'm not the only one with "Safe Queenitis" :p

Personally, I would keep an eye on the exchange for a nice BM-E or a fusion steel heart when the arrive.

SPeaking of which..... FOLDER?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!? :confused:
