every once in a while i get a detailed status report (that saves or ruins my day/week) on the state of jimmy fikes, whose colourful contributions to the forums i miss a lot (and i suppose that i am not the only one). well, the latest letter from alabama was very promising. jimmy is slowly recovering from a serious back injury that made it impossible to lift even the lightest hammer. in the meantime he is back at the anvil, if health allows, in matt lamey's (i.e. jimmy's old) workshop. jimmy's new workshop is developing nicely, and there might be a finished blade in the next couple of decades! we stay tuned! :)

as a lightning hit jimmy's house and fried his computer and phone, he told me this:

"If you get on the forums, still, please extend my hellos to everyone.
[insert any name you like] has croaked, but I've clawed my way back to the land of the living!!!
...
Old Broken Down and Completely Dilapidated and Utterly Boring Jimmy"

his wish is my command. good to see you back, jimmy!

regards,
hans

Hans, that's great news. That character is an old friend and I miss him!

Hans,
So very glad to hear Jimmy is doing better,it was quite a back injury as I remember from my correspondences with him and he was only doing exercises and getting walks in daily.
Jimmy Fikes' sharp wit and cutting humor ARE very much missed around here !
Thanks for the update,Hans.

It sure would be nice to have Jimmy back on the forum again. His posts were always enjoyable. Filled with humor, and never boring.

Regentag, cool Tanto, looks like one of the earlier cord wraps he made. He didnt use that particular "big" flower alot, especially on the Tantos. Really like that one.

holey, is that tanto chisel zero ground? what steel? I like it. Now, I like Matt Lamey's hamon treatment on that tanto even more!!!

Yah... zero ground all the way. It's a one whack paperback cutter.

What steel? Lesseee now... Hmmm...

What did they use on those GMC truck springs in 1973? :p
