I've scanned this site a few times in the past, but now that I'm settled-in as a Utan bladesmith/gunsmith I was approaced by a talented fellow knife maker to come for edged tool/weapon-related discourse.

I've been a bladesmith for 9 years, and have been tutored by Greg Ross, Buster Warenski ( he had the patience of Job with me! God rest him!), Michael Bell (VERY patient; true master), Bob Engnath ( best stand-up artist on a grinder In history, IMHO;God Rest him!) Scott Slobodian (master Photographer and craftsman!), Chris Petersen (lives right down the rough road here. And he IS rough!), Bo Randall ( INCREDIBLE INTENSITY!! God rest him!) and occaisonally Barry Underwood (mostly to laugh. He's hilarious, so we've rarely gotten to speak of knives in any serious tone.)

I forged my first blade before I had a drill press of a grinder, but I also make stock-removal knives, as well. Most all my personal carry knives are cable or D2, but forge work is my passion. When it is cool enough I am usually banging-out katana "blacks" to be finished at my liesure in warmer climes.

I have not made 2 identical knives in 9 years. I despise repition. I adore custom work; making a blade happen for someone who sketched and dreamed it!

Anyway, feel free to ask or share with me.
:D I'm here to both help and learn. :D

Dani

Welcome, Dani. Sounds like you have a lot to add to the site. Good to have another maker on board.

Much obliged, folks. BTW, I'm a Southerner, so the Utah transplant was to get out of Florida and move to something which more resembled the USA.

I'm at 7100 feet elev. here, and have over 3 acres.
Anyone in the neighborhood is welcome to S.Central Utah
and my home and smithy.

I'll let you bang on some steel and see how you like it.

This is the talented maker whom I referred to in my first post.

He's quite a craftsman. ;)

Welcome Dani,

We're one big disfunctional family here, so take most of what you read a grain of salt.

Before you get too many post's under your belt, may I suggest you re-register under your true name. If you decide to become a paying member as to sell your wares, it will make life simpler for the admin of the site.

Again welcome to a displaced Southerner , from a Southerner about to be displaced :)

Moving N-West in the future.

Welcome Dani, There is much good discourse on this site. Usually in good taste. Fred:D

Welcome Dani from one Utah'n to another. What part of S Central Utah ? (Richfield) ?

Im in Utah and spend way too much time down there on the paiute trail trying to discover as many mtns and wildlife as I can on my 4 wheelers.

Once again.....Welcome.

Shane

Welcome aboard Dani. It sounds like we can all learn something from you. Looking forward to it.

OK, will do. Thanks

That is my Smithy's name and business name, as MY name is Daniel Noble. You'll like th lack of heat and humidity, believe me. 30 years of skeeters, sweat and rain was enough for me.

I'm in the Bustling Metropolis of Loa, Utah, about an hour from Richfield (the closest traffic light!)

You are more likely to see an antelope in the road here than a low-rider blasting rap. The only traffic jams so far here have been loose cattle and migrating sheep. It snowed today, so the forge with be fired soon!! :D

Nobleforge,
You will not get much more southern than me I am in Western Australia, (some nice blokes here from Brazil) However I have been allowed to put my 2 cents in hear almost un molested for the past couple of years there are some very nice people here. They have made me feel welcome to your US forum.

I am sure you will like the forum and hospitality.

Hey Reg, If we didn't keep an Ozzie or two around, we'd have no one to wrestle crocs for us. IG aint always around to scare 'em off. :D

Welcome, Dani! You have fallen into the company of some really good rascals here, too. Higgy is right, IG scares the crocs away. I keep a picture of IG in my basement, and I have never had a croc come up through the floor drain. It works, really, it does! Also, I always left a few fish to go to seed there in Fish Lake, outside Richfield.

I try to make two or three alike all the time but they are each unique and different in their own right.

Welcome aboard. Post some pics of the stuff you make when you get time.

Steve
