I am planning to buy Junglass to use around the camp when hunting and for other related stuff. One question I have is how does it compare to Ka bar Becker BK7 and BK9.(toughness performance etc.)

Becker makes an Excellent knife as well.
I do prefer the Junglas over the BK9 due to the Sheath , Micarta scales and the blade design
the BK7 is not in the same realm as the BK9 & Junglas as far as blade reach is concerned
all are 1095 steel

I enjoy both. I think the ESEE is handier and can be used for a wider variety of tasks, but the Becker is tough and will definitely get the job done.

I've got both and will use/keep both.

I've got both the BK9 and Junglas and I use both but I prefer my Junglas. The BK9 is great but I'm not a fan of the sheath and I haven't gotten the micarta slabs for it yet. My Junglas holds a crazy good edge and the handle is very comfortable for any task I've put it through. The sheath is awesome and definitely holds the blade secure and gives you the option of attaching pouches to the sheath. I like the weight of the Junglas and it can chop well and still slice through stuff that you would want a machete for.

If I had to chose a camp blade, it would be a Junglas. I had one (The ONLY reason I sold it is I may never be able to do my thing outdoors anymore) If a few sugurys can fix some arm and wrist probs? I'm gonna get another one, as it has to be one of the toughest blades I have ever tryed!!! Unreal edge retention!!!! and even as big as it is, its easy to carry. Great sheath design. Its my top pick for a camp knife. enjoy edgy

I like the Junglas WAY more.
For me, it's the best chopping/general outdoors knife I've come across, bar none.
Your mileage may vary.

I've never used a Junglas, Jeff and Mike refuse to send me one for testing, they keep saying 'You gotta buy it, blah, blah, blah' :D

I've used a BK9 alot, and only handled a Junglas. I like the BK9 handle (I gots Micarta on it). The Jungla felt good, but I like a little more swell in the grip.

Like others have said, its a personal preference, but since I'm a Beckerhead, I prefer the BK9. Either one will be a tool for a lifetime.

Price wise, I have to got with the BK9 also.

For Hog killin' coolness, I gotta go with the Junglas.

Good luck in your search, it will render a good choice, no matter which one you choose.

Can't give an opinion on the BK9, I don't own one.

But I do own a BK7 and a Junglas. Two very very different knives in the end. The BK7 might be a little more manageable for your run of the mill bushcraft type jobs. The Junglas is a damn big knife, but a darn good one. Despite its size, it's more capable of doing smaller jobs than one might think.

Both knives are quite durable. It's really going to boil down to your own personal needs. Either way, you're in good shape. The Junglas is going to be better at certain functions than the BK7 and vice versa. Again, it's going to be about your own need/preference here.

Here's a quick pic of the two together. The BK7 is a fairly big knife, but the Junglas kinda dwarfs it in terms of size. Hope this gives you some perspective.

I like Junglass overall.......better.fit and finish for sure and looks:)...........but which is tougher when shit hits the fan :) thanx. all opinions welcome......(will probably buy both Junglass and bk9) but would like an honest opinion:).........

also.does anyone have both...........which one cuts better.........chops better........etc......:)(I think I prefer an Esee BUT think Beckers are really good value for money too...:)( probably will get both in future but want to know honest opinions from forumites.hopefully Jeff Randall and Mike Perinn will find little time to have their opinion regarding this question. I already Have Esee Rc4 and find it an excellent knife. Thans all of you!

I have a BK7,BK9, and Junglas. First ,the BK7 makes a great all around bush knife, but is not a heavy duty chopper like the 9 is. The whole Junglas package I like better. The sheath system is far superior , the handle grip on the Junglas feels better all around and the handle angle helps a lot in chopping.

I've been in the bush with each of these knives , one at a time , and never felt I was missing something. Each works well. But, if I was doing a lot of chopping I'd want either the Junglas or BK9. This is where it gets down to personal preference. The BK9 and Junglas are pretty close in chopping ability. Sheath wise , all Esee sheaths are superior to anything else I've used or owned. This plus the ergos and micarta of the Junglas put it on top for me.

If I had to have one or the other ( BK9 or Junglas) , I'd pick the Junglas even though it costs a fair bit more. I think if you got the BK9 , you'd still be yearning for a Junglas sooner or later! Mind you , I was infected by the Esee virus and couldn't help myself , Lol ! Once you hold one..........

I would like to see a friendly "vs." chop test between the two. I know Moose compared the Becker choppers over in the Becker forum and it was both well done and informational.

If anyone has both and willing to do so please post pics.

In regards to the thread, as a Beckerhead myself I have the Bk9 and can attest to it's ability to chop and multi task. Generally I use my Bk2 most, but the 9 is a beast. No doubt the same for the Junglas.

I think if there was a good comparison it would help me press that "add to cart" button my mind is oh-so-willing but my wallet is a little sketchy of :D

We could always do a week swap. Junglas for BK9, chop for one week, send 'em back, write up evals.

Really for a true comparison, side by side, same media needs to be done. If you got both and want to do it, post it. IF I could get a Junglas, I would. Still got some maple and poplar around somewhere. Sounds interesting.

ETA Kwik Stats- BK9 w/Micarta 20.3oz/Junglas 22.5oz

Beautiful idea sir. Anyone with a Junglas want to jump in?

I have both. Out of the box the Junglas has a far superior sheath and grip. I had to add the micarta slabs and a custom sheath to bring the BK9 up to par with the Junglas. Now that the BK9 has been upgraded I enjoy using both knives equally. They are both tough, dependable tools.

Would you be able to post some pics, even with the upgrades?

What sheath are you using for the BK9 if you don't mind me asking?

Here is the BK9 with custom sheath by Martin Swinkels. Kydex lined leather sheath - works beautifully.
