Hello all. While I've been on BF for years and have lots of knives I've only browsed this forum once or twice.
I figured I'd come say hello because just moments ago I bought a small LH and a large LH Sebenza.
It's not the most I've ever spent on a knife but it's the most I've ever spent on a folder. Especially two of them. :)
I've done a lot of reading over the years and have always been happy with other brands. While I'm not at all unhappy with the other folders I have, I just had to get what is often considered the best.
I look forward to getting them and paying more attention to this forum. :)

I'd like to be able to post pics because that would be I had them. I only ordered them less than an hour ago.
I've been on a bit of a buying spree this year. So many Spyderco and Benchmade knives have been delivered that it's insane. Been like a sickness. :D

Figured since I've spent so much on sharp pointy tools this year I might as well get the ones I've heard so much about.

I've only handled one, and that was years ago at Blade. It belongs to a fellow Busse Hog also from Idaho. Chris was standing there with us as well but I didn't know it was him until later. Heh. (We weren't at his booth)

. . . . sounds like the knives are still on the way . . . and the waiting is the hardest part!

Welcome to the club! I'm certain that you will be pleased with your Sebbies when they arrive, and you will gain an increased appreciation for them the longer you have and use them. And if you ever have questions, we'll be here for ya'.

Well when you jump in the water you really jump in! ;)

While I have owned a number of other brands I'm finding myself whittling down to the ones I carry and like the most and they are overwhelmingly CRK folders.

The one piece of advice that I'd give you is give your Sebenza a little time to fully appreciate it.

The first time I held a sebenza I wasn't all that impressed. It was a quick fondle at a gun/knife show and I picked it up opened it closed it and set it down. Later I found a good deal on a used one on the exchange and decided I'd give it a try and sell it for what I had in it if I didn't like it. Once it came in I wasn't blown away but put it in my pocket. I found that I couldn't keep from pulling it out and looking it, paying with it and examining it. It didn't take long for me to recognize how great that little knife is. It was simple, solid, finely crafted and completely useful. It looked right whether I was dressed up or lounging around. It was substantial and fully capable of hard work but also looked very refined. 3yrs of edc and I broke down and bought an Umnumzaan and then I found a good deal on a large regular. I've sold of a lot of others but can't see myself selling these three.

Take the time to appreciate all the little things that make up a great knife like the sebenza and my guess is that you'll come to appreciate the two knives that you have on the way.

Congrats:thumbup:

Yeah, I've never been one to do things half heartedly. ;) I ended up buying both new since finding a used lefty isn't the easiest thing. I haven't looked recently but even most shops don't have lefty Sebbies in stock. I just happened to find a dealer that had both in lefty.
When I handled that one years ago it was just for a moment and I'm a lefty and it wasn't so it didn't of course feel right to me.
Like you say, I figured if for some reason they don't grow on me I can sell them and not really lose much if any.
From someone that's carried a Spyderco Delica of one sort or another for over 12 years I expect I'll be pleased with the fit and finish. I've grown to appreciate higher end knives over the years. Not knocking my Spydies. I have at least 100 of them and will continue to carry them. I've just had the urge for more of a gents folder. Something plain but more refined.
I have knives that almost fit the bill but I figured since I have the cash to get what I've talked myself out of over and over again I might as well pull the trigger before I change my mind again. :D So yeah, like the title of the thread says, it was only a matter of time.

I think it's so great to be able to have a dedicated LH folder that is not a custom order. They are great knives you won't regret it! I think you will wonder what took me so long. Welcome to the club!:cool::D

Heh, so I look at the tracking today and see that my knives are about 30 miles from where I'm typing this. Probably only miles from where I was at work today. Unfortunately UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday, so I won't get them until Monday.
Kind of frustrating knowing I could drive there and back in a couple of hours but have to wait a couple of days.

Ah well. :(

Out of the three main shipping services, I dislike UPS the most. They're unreliable, their service is slow, and some of their policies literally prohibit their drivers from delivering packages on time.

Well our local usps isn't much better. The last package that was delivered was actually tossed into the yard. The guy just backed up the driveway, tossed it out the window and drove away. Then put all our regular envelope mail into the neighbors mailbox.

Never know what your mail/package actually goes through.

I used to work at UPS when I was a teenager. Lets just say that more packages get crushed / smashed / and fall at the distribution center then actually make it onto the trucks. I avoid UPS at all cost as much as I can. I can't believe they are still in business from what I have seen when I worked there for a month. It was crazy.

I shouldn't have but I looked at the tracking again a little while ago. My knives are literally in my town. And of course, that's where they're going to sit until Monday. Too bad they don't offer pick up, I'd go get them tomorrow. (Well, later today)

It's nice that there's an entire forum of people that understand this "hobby" because most of the people I know sure don't. :)
I've converted many of my friends into knife carriers but they aren't as into knives as I am and most of the people on BF are. Though most of them admit they don't remember what they did before they carried a knife. They didn't realize just how useful it would be to have a cutting tool on them all the time.

Nice to know I'm not alone. Hehehe :D

Well my package came today. Two brand shiny new right handed knives. The problem with that is, I ordered left handed knives.
So I have to turn right around and send these back and then wait again for my lefty large and small Sebenza. The invoice was correct but it was packed wrong. Boo!

I'd been looking forward to this all day. :grumpy:

Wait, you got shipped two RH knives and ordered one LH knife?

Wow - that sucks!

If you don't mind sharing, from whom did you order? Whomever, they should not only pay for return shipping, but they should also do something extra to make it "right" (I mean left).

They are paying return shipping. I ordered from GPK. I didn't know if it was ok to state that. Also I'm not wanting to slam them. I mean I was really looking forward to getting my knives today but we're all human and mistakes can be made. It's a bummer I have to wait this much longer to actually have my knives in hand but this is my first order with them and while it sucks, I'm not gonna slam a shop for one mixup. It's up to them if they want to do something extra to make it "right".

Josh- I'd ordered a large and small LH Sebenza. They just sent RH instead of LH.

Ohhh... I was gonna say if you ordered 1 and they sent you two... well.. you know ...

well..i don't think you will be dissapointed,
matter of fact, you probably would be more eager to get your knives.

For me, after all the customs that i bought, at least one pocket still sits my sebbie,
the other pocket, whatever floats my boat. You will be happy with your purchase.

I have no doubt I'll be pleased. For the few moments I handled the RH models that came I could tell they're quality.

I was just really looking forward to getting them. So much that I got express shipping and now I have to wait even longer.
