heya everyone. i came across this forum while futily searching on the web for a gift knife for my girlfriend. i have a very basic sliplock 3 inch blade which i carry as added assurance while making the deposit for my work late at night, on foot. to be brief, my girlfriend has seen the blade and often plays with it... talks about how she wishes she had one. We often go hiking and a myriad of other outdoor activities and i i find many situations (outside of simply having a knife to play with) that it would have been convienent if she had her own. i have to be honest... i am a complete laman when it comes to knives; it took me almost an hour online just to figure out that mine was a sliplock. I was hoping to just simply come across the perfect knife, but alas... i didnt realize there was such a massive variety.

i saw the damascas folders on a few custom sites and let me say if i ever come across a spare grand or two ill probably buy one of those rediculously expensive and beautifull knives... but thats simply not the case right now.

so i come to you all, gods among men in the knife community in hopes of finding a little assistance... ;)

im looking for a folding knife she can safely keep in her pocket, the law here in new york i beleive is a 3 inch maximum - perhaps some of you have a better grasp on that then I, and lastly style...

shes not into pink, or hearts or frilly fairy things... i was hoping to find something slightly more interesting then mine, shes got a bit of a dark side so anything gothic is not out of the question. my price range is anything below 200 dollars. as i swim through the many posts here i realize i might be asking a question thats small potatoes... i mean jesus! some of the knives ive seen here i only wish i could get my hands on.

any links or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Spyderco Waved Delica
Spyderco Dodo
Benchmade 705, 707, 14210, 525
Kershaw Leek (s30v, zdp-189)

I'll throw in a vote for a Benchmade Mini-Griptillian or one of the Spyderco knives (look at their site, there's oogles of 'em).

Not the most expensive, but great values in regard to price/quality.

Noticed a lot of women (and men, too) like playing with the axis knives.

If the model excites, then I'd move up in price range in a knife from the same manufacturer.

I've used it for work a number of years. Still sharp and stil cool looking. Under $50 for high quality folder... with a somewhat gothic flare!
