and I am a knifoholic. My latest "need" is a yearning for a good 6-8 " knife. I have been looking at some Fallknivens (A2, A1, and Forest knife), some Barkies, (Big Sky, Rogue Bowie) and of course the RC-6.
I want all of them, and maybe I will own them all, but I really cant make up my mind on which to get first! Has anyone held all of these? Is all the hype on VG-10 just that, hype? The only barkie I own is a Bravo-1 and love it, but it falls into a different catagory then my RC-4. I keep almost ordering the 6, but then hold off and keep looking at those other knives!
Anyone have this same dilemia? Are you a knifaholic too?!
What do you do to solve difficult knife ordering prospects?
GET THEM ALL ISN'T A VIABLE OPTION!!
(This is where TTD or one of you other knifoholic RAT loving comrades say " Hello, my name is TTD and I am a ...)

Well.. if it were me... If an RC-6 wasnt the one I was going for, I'd just say the heck with it, save a few bucks and order a BK-7. Or a BK-2. But then again I have been lusting after a Gossman Tusker... damn it, I was all settled on waiting til I got my RC-6, but you HAD to start THIS EVIL thread..... :D

Depending on what you are planning to use the knife for any of those listed would be a good choice. I've got a Bark River Hudson Bay that is a great larger blade. I also have a Fallkniven A2. Both of these would make better choppers than the RC-6. Also keep in mind that the Barkies and Fallknivens are convex ground instead of flat. Each have their advantages. The RC-6 is lighter and thinner than the two previously mentioned but that fact makes it more of a large 'all around' user. RAT and Bark River both have outstanding, no questions asked warranties but I believe Fallkniven's warranty is only for two years, if that's something you care about. Let us know which you choose!

Ha! I wish it were that easy, I already have the BK-7! Oh yea, I like the shape of the Hudson Bay knife too, I just dont like the look of the way the handle goes straight into the blade like that. With a smooth handle, one might be prone to slippage and then cut off a finger.

BK7 is a dynamite knife. Of course the RC5/6...check out the maker's forums, maybe pick something up you cant get from a manufacturer. The A-1 is a sexy knife and if you don't have one yet that's what I would get.
