Hello I just signed up and wanted to introduce myself (I hope this is the right place for this post). I am a member of a firearm forum but I wanted to join a knife specific forum because I figured you guys would have much more blade specific knowledge.

I will always remember the first knife my Dad took me to buy (Victorinox Swiss Army Knife) and I have owned various brands of knives ever since. Now I have a small but slowly growing collection of folders as well as a few fixed blades.

Thanks everyone and any tips for the new guy would be appreciated!

WILLKOMMEN!

Also hello and welcome. Top Tip:
When you ask for advice on getting a new knife make sure to list some parameters, blade size, lock preference, budget and perhaps examples of knives you own and what you like or dislike about them. Given the amount of options it gets you less random suggestions.

Welcome.
Firstly, your dad was spot on with your first intro to the world of knives.
Bravo for having taken the red pill...
Its almost a certainty that your world will never be quite the same now...

Another BF victim. RIP to your bank account. However, there's tons of knowledge to be had here, and that's worth the extra money the forums will most likely convince you to spend. Enjoy!

You mean like a Buck 110 to handle every knife task. :D

Pics man, show some pics of your current collection.

I don’t really take pics of my knives I am not that fanatical... but I have knives form Benchmade, Spyderco, ZT, Kershaw, Victorinox, Ontario, Ka-Bar and some Leatherman multi tools.

I just gave my seven year old daughter her first SAK knock-off. The Ozark Trail one they sell at Wally World. I caught it on clearance for like 99 cents.

She hasn't put it down since. Have spent the past couple of days showing her how to not cut her fingers off. Great fun!

Welcome to the forums.

Welcome to the forums.

For .99 cents I have no doubt your daughter will more than get your moneys worth of fun and enjoyment!

If it ever breaks you should upgrade her to the real thing!

No doubt I will. I carry the Explorer model daily after losing my Super Tinkerer.

There's a cute little pink one at our local shop I'm planning on snagging her.

Probably best. Perhaps a Rike Hummingbird would be a good buy. Keep it aside until she is a little older.

For her first "real" knife I scored a tiny Kizer on here for 50 bucks years ago. Can't even remember the model...have it laying around on my dresser somewhere. Anyway, it's s ti framelock with a pretty ano job and a vg10 blade. It's too cute watching her try to actuate it, she can't disengage the lock yet. Few more years.
