I am new to this subforum of SOG fans,so i wish to greet you all. Those who own large selection of SOG fixed blades and can compare what is the most sturdy and reliable utility SOG fixed blade still in sale and definitely worth of money? I am thinking of Ranger NW, price tag on those seem to me worth of every penny,so as its construction features...Was also thinking of Seal Team Elite, but this knife is designed rather for leathal fighting purpose rather than utility wilderness blade....

Those two would be on my list of currently produced that are good. Also consider:

Any of the Seal pup line (pick your flavor)
Force (same handle and basic construction as the Seal Team)
Field Pup
Creed
Tech Bowie
Agency
Super Bowie
Bowie 2.0
Demo 2.0
Trident
Pentagon
Tsunami

Basically anything that has ties to the older days. The only problem is that even some of these sell at ridiculous prices for what you get. Often there are better options for less money from other companies. If you have a question about a specific model please ask!

The NW Ranger, Seal Pup, and Field Pup are all good quality and affordable utility blades that would serve you well. I also very much like the Team Leader, although to be honest I am not sure if it is available anymore.

Welcome! Because the approx 5"blade is my current ideal fixed blade size, my favorite user
is the current Seal Pup Elite in straight edge. Although the Seal Pups series have the miniaturized "SOG Fighting Bowie" blade design, at a reduced length of 4.85" it is much more of a utilitarian blade than a "lethal fighting" blade. The .18" thickness is actually fairly thick for a knife this size; you could easil pound it into a tree and stand on it without any concern.
The Pup series are also some of the lightest knives in this size category, making them easy to
carry on belt or in a pack. The NW Ranger is generally considered more "bush friendly" though in terms of the grind and the .15" thickness. If one is into batoning (which I am not)
the NW Ranger is more suited for this than the Seal Pup. As the current NW Ranger is offered with a straght edge, I may have bought it if I didn't already have an older Seki one. Although the Team Leader is discontinued, the Field Pup and SOG OPS are available too if you find the designs attractive. A major strong point of these 5" class SOGs are their relatively low cost.
At about $50-60 a knife there is no reservation in beating the daylights out of it, and they do hold up. None of my large SOG fixed blades are users so I won't comment on those, but there it's mostly a matter of personal taste.

The original seal pup is still one of the few things worth considering.
Though the straight edge pup elite might be easier to maintain.

Thank you Craytab and to all members for your replies!

When it comes to functionality and value for money i think NW Ranger, Tsunami,Pentagon are the best choices,,,i think Creed is the strongest, toughest model out there, however i might be wrong...I like very much Agency model of my desire, but it seem to me,Agency might be quite prone to breaking due to very thin blade construction......I did some research on prices from authorised dealerships online and have discovered major differences in pricetags for the same models...I was comparing knifecenter and bladehq.Knifecenter have larger selection in stock, but is also considerably more expensive than bladehq.Certain models at price tags about 170 costs about 20-35 bucks less at bladehq.Less expensive models are 10-15 bucks cheaper...

This is the kind of question that if you ask a hundred people you will get a hundred variations of the answer. IMHO the Ranger NW is a good knife. I would say if you feel that that knife will serve your needs hunt around for one to get at the best price you can find. You really won't know how well a knife suits you until you get to using and know the knife.
In general I'm right there in camp with what Craytab, KenHash, and GIRLYmann have already said. I would add the SOG OPS knife to Craytabs list, but that's me. I've found that the SOG Seal Sup Elite is hard to beat for an EDC knife when I'm camping and such. However the OPS has replaced it for me. In truth when it comes to a knife for that task I'd feel just as happy with a hundred year old Marble's Ideal in a 5 inch blade or one of the many copies of it from companies such as Case, Camillus, Western, and there are others.

I think that while ensuring that you "get the most for your money is obviously important, making a choice based on realistic anticipations of use and application is far more important I can't tell you how often I've ended up buying multiple
knives as a result of not thinking this out first, rather than after I bought the knife and used it.

IMO, the SEAL series of SOG products are the most robust. Simply compare components and their potential to take abuse and the SEAL Pup Elite or larger SEAL knives are going to win out. I have had them all from the original Bowie and Trident to the Government, original SEAL 2000, Pup, Pup Elite, new SEAL Team, etc. Of them all, the SEAL Pup Elite is the most useful in size and portability and gets the most use. For a knife it cuts well and takes a reasonable amount of abuse and won’t pull your pants to your knees when attached to your belt. If you manage to break the tip off, send it to SOG and you will probably get a new one. There is too much competition these days to not be customer service oriented.

Once again, thank you guys for all your answers and all of your opinions are reasonably explaining your point of view, which make sense in each comment so far.I like very much reputable and tested brands, when it comes to knifes from mass production.SOG catch my eye as one of very few knife companies up to date.I believe these products are highly reliable,as it have very broad customers base with good feedback and SOG is definitely worth to look into.At least from western companies definitely....From East, same apply to Kyzliar knifes for me.So when i purchase any SOG,i will be back to share my toughts and pictures with you.

Thank you all
