Hello BladeForums.... I'd like to take a second to introduce myself, I'm Brian. Brand spanking new here but not new to forums in general. I've been collecting knives since I fist cut myself with my father SAK when I was about five. Since that first blood was drawn I've been hooked. I love knives, love making 'em, love using them, and ok.... I like guns, and motorcycles, and music, and other fun stuff too.

I live in Denver, am a bartender, a professional musician, and an always learning knifemaker, so the ability to play in the Rocky Mountains on a weekly basis is a huge importance in my life. Spending too much time around concrete without a little Mountain escape is enough to drive me mad. So here are a few of my newer ones I've done as of late.

These knives are already sold. I will not post any up here that are available until I can afford to throw down the $50 to upgrade my membership.

Thanks for Checking out my photos. All comments are welcome. Constructive criticism is one of the most helpful tools in becoming better.

p.s. If there is a more appropriate forum for introductions would a moderator please move this thread over, thanks.

Brian

Welcome! Nice looking knives! I like the tiger stripe ones in the top photo. What steel are you using?

Thanks Mongo. I do all of my own heat treat so I stick with O-1 tool steel. It's 5/32" in the larger two and 1/8" in the smaller.

Good looking knives. I think you would also like posting in the Wilderness & Survival forum under the "Community" tab. Right up your alley. Welcome to Blade Forum!

Thanks, I'll check out the Wilderness and Survival forum. Probably a lot I could learn hanging around there!

Welcome to Bladeforums.
Great looking knives. Always glad to see another knife and gun user on here.
Don't know if you are interested or not, but Jim Rodebaugh lives about an hour north of you in Carpenter WY. He's an excellent knifemaker and a gun nut too. You might enjoy going up there for a visit.

Adam-

Welcome to the forums - happy to have you with us. The knives look like good solid working pieces. I particularly like the big spearpoint.

Thanks guys... appreciate the kind words. Joining up over here and seeing the quality of work that is produced the the members will definitely be pushing me to get better and improve my work.

Carpenter, WY may be a little more than an hour drive from me but it would be worth it regardless how long the drive is.

WELCOME.
Looks like you make a rugged and functional use knife.
I would suggest working towards tapering the tangs.

I agree with Adam as to your visiting Jim Rodebaugh as he an incredibility talented knife and sheath maker and a great guy.

On the Rodebaugh Shop: Actually, it is 100 miles from Denver to Cheyenne, then 20 miles east to Carpenter. The Micro-Smith would love to talk to you, but I would call first... he notorious about interupting his shop time. I run into that problem, and I'm one of his best friends.
I know that he would love to see your knives and give you some tips.
You will love his shop, his gun range is right outside the shop and his shooting bench is about 10 feet from his anvil.

Wow....I checked out some of Jim's work and it is really impressive. Looks like a master of the craft.

This sounds like it would make for a great spring camping trip.
