Hi guys, I'm new to the hawk world although I have always liked axes.

I've been lurking here for a while(even before I joined) and looking at pictures on here. Well, I finally got the bug to buy one(and wifey's permission), so when I got a coupon for 20 bucks off @ the local sporting goods store I got the SOG hawk. I like it ok, but its pretty mean looking for my taste.
After having it for a day or 2 I finally saw the sticky on the CS hawk mod. I ordered one and it arrived today. I like the feel of it, and it looks more like a tool which I prefer. I will clean the casting roughness on the inside so that I can take the head on and off, and maybe other mods(we'll see about that later).
I usually spend my time on the Becker forum(great group of guys), but since the hawk bug has bitten I figure I should Introduce myself here also.

I am pretty sure i'm going to get a custom hawk( I have a specific need in mind). I would appreciate any advice on the best way to start this process?

thanks,
Dave

p.s. Don't worry guy's...I'm not usually long winded.

Hi Dave
Welcome to the forum, glad you stopped lurking. Congrats on your two new hawks. There are a few good makers who post here, all make great stuff. He is too busy to come here that often but Steve Liley from Coal creek forge makes some super hawks.

Best regards

Robin

Hey Dave, welcome this side of the forum!
Cograts on the hawks.

P.S. It is great to get another Charlestonian around here!

Awesome, I've yet to meet anyone on the becker forum that is less than 8 hrs. away.

Do they have a webite? I couldn't find one.
Thanks Dave

Here's his email address Dave. He no longer has a website but will send you pictures of whatever you're interested in. ccfms@sbcglobal.net
If you do a forum search for Coal Creek forge you'll also find lots of pics of his work.
Best regards

Robin
