In looking at the two on Bussecollector.com, I've noticed that the Razor and the SFNO are very similar blades. Same blade length, same style grips. I know the blade on the razor is thinner, but I'm wondering if anyone who owns the two blades can give us their opinions/experiences comparing and contrasting the two.

Can someone PLEASE explain why the SFNO is so sought after?

J

no, you can also buy three HRs for what a CFSFNO will run you. :0p

I owned a CG SFNO for a whopping 4 days... Wanted to make it into a primiary camp knife. Way tooo bulkey and awkward, so I dropped it like its hot.
It's replacment was a Desert straight handle Satin Jack which is now my prized utility blade. No Regrets here!!!!

I had no idea the SFNO was the same size as the SHe, and more heafty....

Other than purtiness:D the two blades do differ. The Razors are thinner and pointier, thus more of a cutter and fighter. The SFNO has a thicker spine and thus is better for batoning wood and chopping. It is a better all around blade.

BUT one thing they both have is the best handle Busse makes:thumbup: IMO

I agree, plus the SFNO is heavier and thus it chops better. The HR is IMO more a fighting knife.

The Hell Razor was one of the first knives to have the CBT treatment, which was why I never got one.

Damn, I schooled by a New Englander:eek::D...and I'm 'bout as far south as you can get (though Miami is kinda like a different country)
I know you LOVE that satin jack, Jarvis. I'm actually looking for the SFNO as more of a chopper, and will probably keep a Badger as a utility blade. Ben loves his SHe, but I think I like the look of the SFNO more. However, what Din said seems to be pretty true as well. Oh well, still looking for my grail knife...

SFNO is an OK chopper. I took mine out once...Slightly better than the BATAC and more comfortable..

From my experiences with owning 30+ Busses in my time
I find the FSH to be an awesome chopper for a blade in that size category. It is a little bigger than the sfno but If you want a chopper and don't want to venture to the Mistress, its FSH all the way. Thats just my opinion..

Yeh, I was thinking about the FSH as well. I bet those are little less difficult to find too, right?

I have owned the SFNO in several varieties, old saber grind, and the newer flat grind.

I have sold all my SFNO and will stay with the Hell Razor with magnum handles. Fits my hand like a glove, is pointy as Hell Razors should be. It batons ok, stabs like a demon and will cover all my needs in that medium sized knife category for me.

I go next to the FSH or my SHSHII, then to the FBM, and the SHBM for more serious chopping and splitting...

In my opinion, the SFNO is a great blade if I had never handled the FSH or SHSHII... And the Hell Razor does everything my SFNO could do, and has a better balance and is more 'pointy' for personal use. :D

YMMV...

Here are some SFNO's and some Razors

I share XMP and JurT's opinions....

I agree as well... I've owned several of each.... I sold/traded off the HRs and kept 3 of the SFNO's (saber, flat grind and custom shop).:D

BTW... Nice knives Crafft!
