I found a Gabon Ebony 21 AND a Micarta 21 for the same price… I'm conflicted and I don't know which one to pick up? What's the difference?

Wood vs micarta (man made product ). The micarta should have a stonewashed blade and beadblast on inlay scale side. The wood usually has a polished blade and inlay scale side. The micarta is a full out user, but both can be users, though the wood is a little more glamorous. They are both usually priced the same new. I am a big fan of the micarta inlays, but also like the wood inlays-choice is yours.

As I sit here looking at both of the knives you are describing, I completely agree with Peter on all counts. When using, I always grab the micarta, but I love the feel of the ebony. I also have a cf inlay which is shiny in comparison to the ebony, and the ebony has a beautiful feel to it - less shiny than the cf. I also prefer the stone wash blade on the micarda rather than the shiny blade on the ebony. I believe these mixes of blade and inlays is done on purpose to make you buy both. So, decide how much hard use is going to happen and choose accordingly.

I've got 6 micartas and am a big fan. Love the feel in the hand. Grippy in wet weather or if your hands are sweaty. The micarta gets darker as it's used. It can be washed with soap and water to clean dirt/oil off. It will be more suitable in cold weather conditions(I wouldn't know about that since I live in the deep south, but that's what I've read....so that's fourth hand info)

I went with the CF
