Have plenty of colored jig bone handle knives and wood knives. I want something classy for this one. Which would you choose?

Both are a good choice, and both look good. However, if you use white bone, you have the option of adding scrimshaw.

I'd go with the horn, since I don't know how to scrimshaw and do not know anyone who does. I also have 3 or 4 white bone handled knives already.

Personally I would go for the white bone. I like the character white bone usually has in it. I like horn if it's feathered buffalo horn but if it's just pure black it almost feels & looks like plastic to me and I don't care for it. Buffalo horn is also more prone to shrinking with age as well but GEC doesn't seem to have very many issues with this compared to some of the other manufacturers.

I think white bone ages pretty well. It develops an "old-time" character after a few years of handling. I guess it depends on if you like that look, or not.

Well, I don't know about anyone else but I think it looks great!

How long did it take to get to that shade - and did you help it along at all?

Thanks guys.. was jonesing pretty bad for a 22 Mag for a while after I got rid of my Pemberton, so pulled the trigger. The buffalo just looks black, not feathered, so I went with the Buckthorn bone..
Wait begins.

Thank you! The knife is 3 to 4 years old - it was made in 2011 anyway. I haven't done anything but carry & use it. :)

Nice choice, i've been making my last 2 slippies with white bone (camel).
By the way, white bone means nothing! i've spent almost an hour carefully choosing the right pair of scales from my supplier stash!!! Each one had it's charachter.
If well chosen, worked carefully without overheating is an amazing material in my opinion
