So, a bit of a repost of a topic in general, but thought everyone here would appreciate this. Took a friend to a gun/knife show, as she had expressed interest in knives. We looked around, and most of the knives on offer were low quality, huge oversized blades, or not what she wanted (small, martially oriented, design she liked). She had been interested in hawkbills/kerambits, as I myself have a spyderhawk. We looked, but aside from the cheap bad quality knives there was nothing...
Until we looked at a display case, and in the spyderco section lay a waved delica, a knife I have owned in the past (but decided to keep a ZDP-189 one instead. Still miss the wave though. If I could add a wave that could open bottles with an intact hole...). I asked to see the knife, and demonstrated the opening for her. She was incredibly impressed. We looked around, came back, and she bought the knife.
Anyway, thought you all would appreciate someone inculcating another one to the knife, and specifically spyderco, way. Aside from gerber, which I'm not really counting, my first quality knife was a Endura3, so I'm keeping the tradition of a first high quality knife being a spyderco.
Thank you Mr. Glesser for your excellent knives, designs, and customer service. Not only have you made a customer for life, you've made a company evangelist, which is something you can't buy, or price- it's something you earn.
