so, i've been making knives for a while now, but i haven't really made any leather sheathes yet.
So i wanna convert from kydex to leather and am about to order some leather.
Will 6-7 oz leather do it or should i go thicker? The style of sheathes i plan to attempt are
3 layer sheathes (leather - welt (spells?) and leather.

Thanks

I use 7/8 for small work like folder sheaths and fixed under 4"

For larger blades I tend to want the extra protection of 8/9.

6/7 is a bit too thin for my taste, it also tends to flop around on larger sheaths.

Thanks again!

 on your choice for 7/8 oz. It will be right for most sheaths, in my shared opinion with Dwayne..
