Folks,
I just registered here, in the hope one of y'all might be able to point me in the right direction. My Internet name is DirtyBird, though I'm OneDirtyBird here and there. In real life, my wife insists on calling me Eric. I live in Oregon. I love guns, flashlights, knives, and trucks.
I attended a gun show in Portland with a buddy. I can't remember if it was the December 2011 show, or the March 2012 show, but we stopped at the table of a knife maker who had one of the coolest Grohmann/Russell/Canadian belt knives I've ever seen. The blade was thicker than the typical 1/8 steel, the scales were nice wood, and the finish looked to be parkerized (I think). He had it listed for $150, I think. Came with a leather sheath, and I believe he said his wife makes the sheaths. His wife was working the table with him.
Because I am a damn fool, I did not buy the knife. Regretted it ever since. I can't remember the guy's name, but I think he was out of southern Oregon. He was friendly, obviously knowledgable, and yet humble at the same time. You could tell he loved his craft.
Searched all through a list of Oregon knifemakers I found here on bladeforums, but if I found the guy's website I didn't recognize it. Does anybody have any idea who this guy might be?
Thank you to one and all. I truly appreciate any help, wisdom, or pointers you can provide.
