Hi, guys (and gals?)! I am just starting to get into the realm of making my own knives (from kits), and while adding things up, I realized I may be in over my head for a project I don't know if I'll even like. I was interested in trying my hand out on making a couple Kydex sheaths, as well as getting a blade (preferably a Rob Simonich Cetan Tanto, although he won't respond to email...) and putting Micarta handles on it and finishing it, but the cost I added up was close to a humdred bucks for starting out! Ouch! So, I was wondering if anyone was interested in giving any materials away. I would be more than happy to pay postage, and if you smoke cigars, then I will certainly send you something really nice in return! Basically what I would need is Kydex enough for a couple fixed blades and a couple Micarta scales (canvas, black, whatever) to make a handle (preferably 1/4" or so). Anyway, if you'd be willing to make a donation or hook me up for a small compensation, then please let me know! Thanks and I appreciate it! Steve Agocs

hey man! if your not sure you want to go all the way with that kind of money, try ordering
a knife kit from one of the many knife suppliers and spend only $30-$60. you usualy
have many different stules of bladesw to choose from and they also come with scales, guards, pommels, and detailed intructions with finnishing tips. that would be the way to go if you "just want to give it a shot".
good luck bud!! Chris S

Chiro...

What e-mail addy have you used? When did you e-mail him? Rob always responds to e-mail, read Amacks thread on kits.

Chris...
The standard Cetan kit from Simonich is $40, Chiro was referring to all the other stuff he'd need to get.
Jantz Supply has kits as low as $9.00 up to $40...the only steel mentioned is 440C tho

Steve, I have answered all the e-mail I have recieved from you, please resend the last one and I am sending you a copy of the last one I have recieved. I make every effort to respond to all the e-mail I get, sometimes 30 or so a day just on knife questions. Rob

DC..... yeah, true, but I was looking in my Dixie Gun Works catalogue and a few others that I have laying around here. I like using them because I dont need to use a credit card like most of the catalogues on the net. I just find it easyer for me.In the Dixie catalogues there are a few kits thet come complete. I ordered a hunter kit for my brother as a gift and he put it together easyly and it turned out looking quite good and it was his first shot too.
I was just passing along the info

Good luck!! Chris S

I haven't emailed Rob, but I've talked to him on the phone and he was very nice and helpful with my ht questions. I'm going to send him some blades to treat.

Hey, Rob - I'll call you in a couple days.

Rob and I got everything worked out. SO far he's been SUPER to deal with. I have ordered the Cetan Tanto kit knife with maroon micarta handles. I plan on making a Concealex sheath, too, which is another first for me. I will do my best to document in careful detail the entire project (ordeal?)...;-)...and get pictures on a website after it's all finished. Thanks for your help, guys!
Steve
