Hello there. I was looking for a new knife and would like some input. I have a William Henry evolution that is sweet, but would like a slightly larger blade with more rugged construction. I've been partial to Benchmade in the past and find the balance of price/quality about ideal. I had a mini Presidio, nice nife but the handle was a a little too agressive for EDC. Here are some of the finalists- tell me your thoughts:

BM 551 drop point griptilian - very light, excellent ergonomics, attractive price

BM 942 Osborne. don't know about the reverse Tanto blade. It sure does make for a rugged tip. The handle is very comfy & the overall weight is surprisingly light.

BM32 Never considered a Bali before, but this one is pretty keen with the G10/Ti scales & liners. I'm concerned that the basic Bali construction will not be very rugged with daily use. the full size BM 42 is a bit intimidating to be whipping out in a crowd.

In any case, thanks for your input, all. If there's something I'm missing- by all means chime in.

I EDC a Ritter Grip, and my son carries the 942. No experience with balis!

The Grip is a great knife, and I really like the Ritter blade - but the handle is very textured, and you may find it too aggressive. It certainly won't slip in a slimey situation, but it can sometimes feel a bit over-textured. VERY tough handle - nothing breaks it!

The 942 is a very nice knife. From handling my son's, I'm real tempted to get one for an EDC, but I think he'd be upset if I showed up with "his" knife. It's very nice as a IWB carry, the blade is very useful as well as "cool" looking, the handle very comfortable. It may be the knife you're looking for.

Both of the above have the AXIS lock, which is the best one out there, IMHO. Strong, smooth, quick. My favorite!

If you're gonna go Benchmade why not support Benchmade and carry a knife from a great maker any of the Snody/BM knives fit this bill and they are small enough for most peoples EDC but large enough to get the job done.

Any would make a fine EDC. Balisongs, if constructed well, are VERY strong. Make sure to check if balis are legal in your area before carrying one.
