...Model #'s for the AMK SERE series of knives, so...
The AMK3008A, with the 7" serrated upper edge, in A6 (AUS6) SS, with the green Micarta slab handles was originally introduced as the SERE 6, and will be sheath marked as such...when the AMK renumbering took place in (1994?), the knife was renumbered to AMK3008A (SERE 8). The larger bladed SERE 7 and SERE 8 were only released with green Micarta handles.
Under the new numbering scheme, the AMK3006B, with the 5.5" hollow ground blade with bottom serrations, and black Neoprene handles became the SERE 6. To the best of my knowledge, this knife was never offered with the Micarta handles, only the black Neoprene.
The SERE 4, aka AMK 3004B was similar in blade length, but with a substantially different grind. The SERE 4 and 5, aka AMK 3004 and AMK 3005 knives are similar to each other, the SERE 5 having serrations on the upper blade edge like the SERE 8...
The SERE 4 and 5 were released in both green Micarta and black Neoprene.
And yes, all the versions, AMK3001 through AMK3008 are discontinued.
I hope that helps.

btw, we collect AMK SERE's, so if I can help any more...feel free to ask.
