Maybe it's a dumb question but it seems that the BM 42 I just received have alignement problems. The blade even touch the handle when it's closed...
What can I do? just buy the appropriate screwdriver , or it's a bigger problem and have to send it back to the seller (oh, no...!!!)
Thank you for your answers

The spine will touch the inside of the safe handle in the ricasso. That's normal. On the other side, the kick will touch the inside of the opposite handle. This is normal too. This is why the knife doesn't rattle when it's closed and why you have to squeeze it a bit to get it latched closed. Neither the edge nor the swedge should not touch the inside of their respective handles. If this is happening, then I'm sorry to say that the knife needs to go back. This can not be adjusted with the screws.

On second thought, are you referring the sides of the blade rubbing against the handle?

The spine may barely do this especially just below the swedge. The edge may do this just slightly in the ricasso.

Start by looking at your 42's joints. There should be four metal washers, one on each side of the blade on each side on each joint. Once you look for them, they're not hard to see. We have received one report of a 42 that was missing at least one washer. Make sure you've got yours.

Otherwise, tightening the screws with an appropriate Torx driver (T10 or T8 depending on when your 42 was made) will reduce this lateral play, I call it "wobble", in your 42. Obviously, overtighten and the joints will be to stiff.

So, check those things out and let us know what you find.

kao,
Both my 42 blades touch the handle. One of them is a prototype. The edge doesn't contact anything just the sides of the blades rub. I do not think that I have an alighnment problem. Jist the nature of the beast.
Mine may be different than yours but they do have rub marks.

In my half-vast travels, I can't recall seeing a butterfly that didn't have some sort of rub marks on the blade.......unless it had never been opened! The most precise bali that I have and have ever seen, John Salley's, have rub marks on the mirror polished blade tang after opening and closing the knife...............
