I am thinking (no I have decided) to get a BK 9 but I hate HATE the sheath. I am limited in my funds but would liek to uprade the sheath asap. Any suggestions. I have no real prefernce of Kydex or leather..but I want very very good retention and multiple ways of attaching it.

thank you.

Check out my website and let me know if you see something that you like.

This is the only place, ONLY PLACE, where anyone has ever known who Tasselhoff was. As for a dragonlance nerd..yeah, I guess I qualify. But at least I did not name my kid Tanis or anything.

As fo the budget..I would like to keep it under what I pay for the knife. But it is all relative to the quality and "extras" that come with the sheath. I just want the names of good sheath makers that are willing and able to take care of a BK 9.

And right off the bat, two people knew the reference ;)

Off the top of my head:

hunkachunka has made some:

Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop also has them. Can't link for you, but you can google it.

Eric Lind of Mashed Cat also makes them, but you will have to send your blades to him. Again, cannot link.

Moose bends leather as well, I think.

Buddy of mine bought a Junglas sheath for his BK9 and likes it quite a bit.

Say hi to Kaz the Minotaur for me!

Ok, here is an idea on the cheap ..... get some old school binders, heat up the covers (apparently they are kydex in some of them) and form it to your knife. Cut to shape, sand and rivet it

Damn Dragonlance nerds.
I don't get any of that.
As far as the sheath goes there's a bunch of custom makers around here, hell moosez45 right here in the becker subforum does them. I bought the Chestnut ridge kydex with my BK 9, which i like a whole bunch standing and moving around, but hate when sitting.
The quality is high on it but I wish it rode a couple inches lower.

If you wanna do it on the cheap, somebody posted a you tube video (couple weeks ago) about making your own sheaths with pvc pipe and a heat gun.

I tried it and found favorable enough results to continue working on it.

yup, chestnut ridge knife shop makes a kydex for the bk-9: http://www.chestnutridgeknifeshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=55&products_id=893&osCsid=2fcabe13e751274a281ea6681d7316b5

the bk-9 fits perfectly in the junglas' sheath...it's by far the best sheath of any knives i've seen. $60 direct from esee.

the bk-9 and the junglas have practically the same dimensions:

:D I qualify as well. Can't help much with the sheath dilemma. I would go with leather over kydex, but that's just a personal preference. I like the way it looks after it's got some age and wear.
