Hey guys im about to make the hardest decision of my life. My 1st becker knife and i dont know which one to get bk10 or bk7. Im going to be taking this on backpacking trips, kayaking,or canoeing trips, or hiking along with a eco parang for chopping and some brush clearing.it will be used to baton and make fires. If anyone here owns both plz tell me about your experience with them peace out.

I think you would be better served to ask this question in the Becker forum. You may still get some good answers here but you'll have a higher chance of getting people that own both in that forum. Maybe a nice mod will move it over for you. :)

If this is the hardest decision of your life, you're doing ok...:p

I'd vote BK10 too. 5.5" is just about right imo for most hiking/camping chores.

Since you already have an eco parang, I see no reason to go with the BK7. The BK10 is the better choice here I feel, as if you need something robust for batoning or chopping, you'll be using the parang anyway. Might as well carry the more compact option.

And with that in mind, check out the BK16. It may be a good choice as a smaller but still robust second knife.

Good luck :).

Tough call.
Like em both.
Imo. It helps to to have a longer blade for an extended period.
But seeing you intend to also carry a parang. Well...
I see the complication concerning the bk choice.
You must actually like the bk7 as much as you do the 10
For whatever reasons known only to you.
You might well consider the stronger stout tip bk10
Versus the slashing power of the 7.
One needs to foresee the situations
And keep in mind the possibilities arising
For the required use of a said blade in a particular given area of operation.

I know but they both would excel at the tasks i would need to do but are slightly better in some vs othera

I would go with the bk10. Reason being because it has a shorter blade i would be more inclined to carry it more often. However i personally think you cant go wrong with a bk7 bk9 bk10 or bk17 :D i love a clip point. I dont own any beckers yet but all the ones i listed are on my to buy list :)
