I am looking for a general purpose hiking/camping knife that can take a beating. My main question is, "For light chopping is there really a big difference between the BK7 and the BK10?" I think it would be easier to carry/store the BK10. Also, is the BK10's point really as blunt as it looks? I guess what I'm really asking is, "What can the BK7 do that the BK10 cannot?"

Finally, how is the fit and finish on them, and do they come shaving sharp out of the box?

Thanks,
Jason

Yes, for chopping, there is a pretty big difference between the two, but if you want to chop get a BK-9 or an axe.

Yes, the tip of the BK-10 IS pretty blunt, or steep.

Yes, they both come from the factory pretty darn sharp.

The fit and finish on all 8 or 9 of the Beckers that I've owned have been excellent...Maybe not up to the standards of a $400-$500 Busse, but the Beckers are a very good value.

Is the BK10 alright for light chopping (1'' limbs, not logs)? Would it be worth it to get the BK10 over the BK7 because of size and weight?
