I've got a Blackjack fixed blade that I would like help identifying. It has a 5" recurve blade, 3/8" thick, and a Kraton (?) handle. It came with a nicely made Cordura sheath. Does anyone know what kind of steel the blade is made of? What is it called? any information would be helpful.

It sounds like one of their Mambas.
I have a couple of folders with that recurve blade format and they are AUS8A.

It does sound like a Mamba of some type. I regret never getting one. Now I don't really have a need or the $ for it! I have started picking up some Blackjacks on trade recently and they keep impressing me. Too bad they went under.

Here is a pic of my Blackjack Mamba 7-L. Steel on most of the Blackjacks was 1095 carbon. It may also be a "Jaeger" (sp?). They had the same type of blade, but with a single guard. I think...

Photopoint.com may be having problems, so keep trying the pic link. It's there, trust me!

Daryl if it is a 5" recurve blade it is undoubtedly a mini Mamba. The Jaeger is a hunter with a basicly straight blade with a little belly.

rfrost,
Man that pic has got my juices flowin'!
You, my friend, are one lucky rascal indeed to own one of those!
I sure wish someone would bring that line back to life!
I'd LOVE to see what Marble's could do with it.

Hey miscue, if you think that is sweet you ought to see one with the gold titanium oxide finish. I've got one in black ti and one in gold ti, a real "Sunday" knife if I ever saw one!

It's a mini Mamba. No doubt about it. I believe the steel in that is also AUS 8a but I will not swear to it. My mini Mamba custom is in ATS 34. Yours may be in that as well.

Since Blackjack knives are the topic of conversation:

I just received a new unused Tartan Dirk with an additional Kydex sheath made by edgeworks. Can you fine folks tell me anything about this knife?

Steel?
Price?
etc.?

Also, is there anyplace on the web that still has pics and prices from the old Blackjack line?

TIA,

Chris Canis

Phantom4,
Post a picture!
Post a picture!!

rfrost,
Wish I'd known sooner...
I've spent my knife budget for the entire month already. (It never takes too long, don't ya know)?

Thanks for the information. I also have Mamba 7-L, I appreciate you posting the picture, I picked up mine at a gun show (you'd cry if I told you how much I paid for it)and I always thought the sheath was not original. I now see it apparently is because it is exactly like the one in the picture. Thanks again.
